Dave Stringer Australian Tour

February/March

Kirtan Evenings & Workshops
with Dave Stringer & Band

Tuesday 22 February – Thursday 4 April

Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Adelaide, Perth & Maraylya

Dave Stringer has been widely profiled in publications all over the world as one of the most innovative artists of the new Kirtan movement. Stringer’s sound marries the transcendent mysticism of traditional Indian instruments with the exuberant, groove-oriented sensibility of American gospel.

Initially trained as a visual artist, filmmaker and jazz musician, Stringer’s work underwent a significant shift when video editing work brought him to an ashram in Ganeshpuri, India in 1990. Subsequent periods of service teaching meditation to prison inmates expanded his interest and research in neuroscience.

Kirtans with Dave Springer in Australia

Various venues and dates throughout March

David is  thrilled to be returning to Australia soon, and grateful to be a part of the rapid expansion of the Australian kirtan scene. This year his itinerary spans the entire month of March, and includes stops in Ipswich, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Byron Bay, Bellingen, Port MacQuarie, Newcastle, Gosford, Sydney, Canberra, Adelaide and Melbourne. The tour will also feature a four day residential music retreat at Govinda Valley in New South Wales. He calls it Kirtan Flight School. This year will be the first time he is teaching Kirtan Flight School in Australia, and I’m delighted to hear that registrations are coming in at a fast clip.  People in Europe and America have told him repeatedly that the Flight School is the one of the most powerful retreats they have ever attended. Who knew that putting instruments in people’s hands, organizing them into bands, and coaching them through the process of leading and playing for kirtan would be so personally transformative?

Kevin runs his HEARTsongs kirtan in Byron most weeks, which attracts between 40 and 100 people a week, which is truly divine. He has recorded the beautiful community choir there singing his HEARTsongs, and is launching this sublime CD on the Australian East Coast, including Byron Bay, Brisbane EARTHeart, Sydney & Melbourne and you are all most welcome to come share this nourishing nrg at this auspicious Brisbane event.

HEAR Kevin’s songs and READ more about him and sacred song on http://kevinjamesheartsongs.com/ (each page has a different song so click on each page to hear them all)

“We would LOVE to share this evening with you, in our EARTHeart garden, if you book and pay prior to the event, you may bring a guest FREE.”

The gathering starts at 4pm on Sunday 21 March, with all those who wish to gather and connect, chat, share, have a cuppa or share snacks & light refreshments. Please feel free to bring anything you wish to share. we do ask that you aim to arrive no later than 6.15 so as to settle in and enable the spirit of the event to be smooth. Kevin and Mel will start around 6.30, by which time we should all have been able to connect and settle into the present moment and the EARTHeart space.  Please feel free to bring a chair, cushions and mattresses will be provided for those happy to sit or lie on the ground.

Discount CD’s will be available on the nite, you can hear samples of them at http://kevinjamesheartsongs.com/ or on http://www.myspace.com/kevinjamesheartsongs where from memory they all play one by one.  There is a different song on each page of the blog (golden shaded), so click on each to hear them all…. most these songs we will sing at the gathering, lyrics will be included. some songs are Sanskrit, some in English and Kevin’s originals … all divine heart/love songs of the purest form.

In Brisbane, they will be holding the circle in a specially prepared sacred area in the EARTHeart garden pagoda. If there are light showers we will be sheltered with a tarp roof.  Hopefully the weather will be fine and you will be able to enjoy the outdoor energy of the gardens. If the weather is very challenging, they will bring the gathering indoors.  As mentioned, Kevin and Mel attract a significant weekly chanting group in Byron Bay of between 50 and 100 people, and Kevin is very well known is the Bali spirit festival circles.

Please feel free to let your friends know of this event, they are most welcome, there are very few quality chanting events in Brisbane.

As mentioned, prepaid tickets give 1 free ticket… only where prebooked and prepaid.

Feel free to friend any one of them on facebook as this is a great central place to keep in touch and share news.  Again, they look forward very much to share this sublime sonic heart time with you
