West End Live

Sunday, 19 September  11AM – 5PM

Free entry event

They are taking over Boundary Street for a whole day, so come along and celebrate the diverse, the divine and the delicious at this year’s West End…LIVE as part of Brisbane Festival 2010.

Get down to the Lizard Stage for a host of home-grown talent such as Marshall & the Fro, Little Scout, Bessy-Lou, Tin Can Radio, Charlie Mayfair, Bang Bang Boss Kelly and Greshka.

Dance your way up the street as Rio Rhythmics lead the way to the Kurilpa Country Stage in a moving drumming, dancing celebration of South American and Capoeira styles, culminating in an on-stage performance.

Stay around for more eclectic entertainment by über-talented performers from across the arts spectrum; from a circus cabaret set from Vulcana Women’s Circus, to Indigenous contemporary performance, to the West End State School Greek Dancers.

Get acquainted with the personalities who make this suburb so special at Boundary St Speak Out; intimate storytelling sessions at coffee shops and other local venues.

Or for something slightly quirky, be sure to look up at the balconies along Boundary Street for a series of idiosyncratic, impromptu and occasionally improvised 10 minute performances including music, poetry and soapbox style political rants.

If it’s happening on Sunday the 19 September, it’s happening in West End. There’s food, fashion, BMX trick riding, art, acrobatics, dance, design, markets, music, photography, poetry, performance, stalls, sculpture, conversation, coffee, community gardens, and much more.

Food and beverages will be available for sale from a variety of stalls.

Full programme details are available on West End…Live’s Facebook Page! Make sure to invite your friends.
